QWAAAAAAAAAA!!! Okay I was seriously going to wait until later to make my newfound love public & rant my ass off about it, but… I COULDN’T WAIT ANYMORE.

So HERE is my newest pairing! GaaTen!

wtf!!! Yes, I know, I know. It’s weird, it’s crack-ish, it doesn’t seem to make any sense, and everyone else like KankuTen (for some strange, unapparent reason), but I DON’T CARE. And now I am going to try my bestest to show you readers HOW exactly this pairing makes sense, and HOW exactly I came to conclusion that I friggin love it.

Stay with me, now!!! I have points to make!!

Let’s talk about Gaara pairings. Um…non-slash ones. Not because I’m a hater, because this rant is about non-slash Gaara pairings (well partly).

Okay! So how many are there? Well, there’s GaaraxMatsuri, if ya like that…but I don’t. GaaHina, GaaIno, GaaSaku, GaaTem, GaaTen, Gaa…all those random other girls. But which of these make any sense?? Well, that’s what I’m here to discuss. As a matter of fact, let’s go through each one of these! (leaving out Gaara and Matsuri, cuz despite me not liking it, it’s just a given that it makes sense, ya know?)

But anyways!!

GaaSaku
Ya know, for some reason, everyone and their dog kinda clings to this one when they’re looking for Gaara pairings. I understand that Sakura helped Naruto rescue Gaara, but I think I missed the part where she and Gaara got any kind of big interaction. I think I can remember them speaking maybe once…and that was kind of it. But other than that, nothing much happened between these two. So if only for that reason, does this pairing really make that much sense? No. It doesn’t.

GaaHina
I actually saw a pretty good reasoning for liking this pairing once, from this girl on Gaia. Despite it being crack, she said, Hinata is such a loving and sweet individual, that she would be able to love Gaara without judging him on his past. True? Maybe. But that doesn’t change the obvious little fact that these two have barely even acknowledged each others existence. So yeah.

GaaIno
Probably the crackiest of the Gaara crack. Same reason as GaaHina. They’ve never even acknowledged each other much. And maybe it’s just me, but I totally think these personalities would clash. Ino would be a bit too overwhelming for Gaara’s taste. At least I think so. ~~Besides, ShikaIno will always be #1.~~

GaaKa
….I take that back. THIS is the crackiest of the Gaara crack. Because I’m not even sure if Karin KNOWS WHO HE IS. LOL. The pairing name is delightfully fun to say, though~ GaaKa…GaaKa…GaaKa… yay. But still. NO SENSE.

GaaTem
Eh. Makes the most sense out of all of them, actually. But still! Most people aren’t overly fond of incest. So this one is STILL pretty much a no-go.

AND LASTLY…..

GAATEN.
Why do I like it???

Well, to begin with, I KNOW technically we have never seen Gaara and Tenten interact much. In fact, I’m actually unsure if they’ve even LOOKED at each other before. But that’s beside the point!!~ ~~(well okay, not really.)~~

But anyway!! What are some of the things we know about Tenten? I’d say the biggest thing we know, is the fact that she is a member of Team Gai. Andd who else do we know who’s on Team Gai??

Yes!! LEE. The guy Gaara beat to a pulp in the Preliminary rounds. Now what does Lee have to do with this?? Everything, really. We may not ever see Tenten and Gaara interact, but we HAVE seen Lee and Gaara interact plenty!! First of all, as I said, Gaara nearly killed Lee way back when. I’m sure everyone remembers that. But if you recall, Gaara and Lee are actually quite chummy nowadays. Gaara changed, and I’m sure Gaara feels horrible about nearly killing the poor guy.

But my point is… WHO WOULD’VE BEEN BY LEE’S SIDE THROUGH ALL OF THIS??

If you guessed Tenten, you deserve another brownie.

Tenten was there. She knows how badly Lee was injured. She knows how long it took for him to heal. She knows how depressed it made him. She knows how frightening of a person Gaara used to be. She may not have known Gaara as personally as Lee, but SHE KNEW HIM.

And then also: Tenten was there through the rest of Lee’s life up to now. She saw Lee get better. She witnessed everything going on in his life. Who’s to say Lee didn’t talk to her throughout his troubles? They’re teammates, practically family. Lee saw all the changes Gaara went through. Hell, Gaara saved his ass when they fought Kimimaro. And anyone with a brain would assume Gaara would try to make things right with Lee. Try to make up for almost killing him.

And who would Lee tell all this cool “omg Gaara is so different!!11” stuff to?

If you guessed “his team,” you deserve another brownie.

That’s exactly the matter! Lee WOULD tell them all this! We all know how ecstatic Lee gets over everything. With something as BIIIIG as Gaara becoming a better person, the whole village would probably hear it from Lee eventually.

But my point is… Tenten would hear all this too. And with Gaara trying to make up for all this, and trying to befriend Lee a bit more, Tenten would probably be around him a bit more as well. Just because we didn’t see it happen, doesn’t mean it didn’t; it just means Masashi never found it important enough to include in the manga. And with Gaara getting closer to Lee, it only makes sense that Gaara would be getting closer to his team as well. Maybe not as much, but he still would.

Now back to Tenten. And why I think Gaara could like her.

Well, first of all, Tenten doesn’t really have that overbearing of a personality. She’s strong, yes, but also calm, kind of quiet. Gaara just doesn’t seem like the type who would like loud, overbearing, bitchy girls. And Tenten is none of those. Plus, she’s Lee teammate, like I’ve already established. Gaara knows her. And I also think Gaara would like the strong points of her as well. He’s the Kazekage; he wouldn’t want someone people could walk all over — like Hinata (no offense, GaaHina fans). Not to mention the Kazekage ending up with a Leaf ninja could bring the two villages a bit closer as well.

As for all the GaaSaku fans probably going “But that’s exactly what GaaSaku would be like too!!!” I understand that. But I also just don’t believe Gaara would randomly steal the girl one of his closest friends is in love with. He just wouldn’t.

But to sum things up…. because this is getting rather long….

GaaTen isn’t actually as silly and senseless as it seems; it makes a lot of sense, actually, if we look between the lines. I understand that it’s still always going to crack, no matter what anyone assumes and no matter what makes sense. But still…no one can deny that, given everything I’ve talked about, the pairing DOES have potential.
